Remington Short Cut Clipper Rechargeable Cordless Haircut Kit Review

My hair is so simple and easy to cut that it’s just not worth going to a barbers any more, much the same as a lot of guys. I usually get my wife to do my hair, but after too many experiences with our previous trimmer pulling on my hair (I presume it was the fault of the machine – not the wife) I decided it was time to invest in a new trimmer. I settled for the Remington Short Cut Clipper Rechargeable Haircut Kit for a number of reasons, and it’s generally lived up to expectations very well. Remington doesn’t usually do well in the barbering world, but many have said this is the best hair clippers for barbers.

Firstly, it’s a nice design and feels pretty well built. I’ve seen better, but for the price it’s perfectly acceptable. It’s lightweight and comes with various accessories, including a couple of combs, a brush and blade oil. So a nice little package.

Ultimately, the verdict is dependent on the actual cutting ability, and it works great! The blade is adjustable to get the length of cut you want. I actually prefer this over having a load of different attachments, which this doesn’t. The trimmer obviously has a bi-directional cut, in terms of how you hold it in relation to the blade. This makes it so easy to use, especially by yourself. With a regular trimmer you’re probably aware of how difficult it can be to cut your hair yourself, at least on the back of your head. With the Remington Short Cut, you don’t have that problem.

A side from the ease of use, the Short Cut is incredibly easy to clean. The main device isn’t water proof but you can give the blades a quick rinse, or simply brush them with the brush provided.

As a downside, the battery life of the Short Cut isn’t great. This isn’t really a deal breaker as you can use it while it’s plugged into the mains, but still, a better battery life would have been appreciated.

Here’s a summary of the Short Cut:

Pros:

  • Light weight
  • Incredibly easy to use and clean
  • Great for trimming the back of your head
  • Cordless so no need to use it near a power outlet
  • Includes various accessories
  • Adjustable clipper length

Cons:

  • Battery life not great

On the whole, I don’t really have a bad thing to say about the Remington Short Cut. There are probably trimmers that give a better and faster cut, but for the price you’ll be hard pressed to find one that can match the general use of the Short Cut. A great little trimmer and definitely recommended.
